Thread veins, also known as spider veins, are a common problem that develop with age and can lead to a loss of confidence and self consciousness. They are easily treated with the safe and effective treatment, Sclerotherapy.
Sclerotherapy involves a solution of aethoxysklerol being injected into each tiny vein using a fine needle and gentle pressure being applied. There is immediate blanching of the vein as the solution tracks its way through the branches of the tiny vessels and over the following weeks the veins shrink and fade.
Depending on the severity of the problem, (the size and extent of the thread veins), it is sometimes necessary to repeat the treatment. This can usually be determined at initial consultation. Follow on treatments will be offered at five to six weekly intervals. Although not always necessary, support tights may be need to be worn for several days following treatment. Some bruising and redness will occur for the first few days and hot baths or showers must be avoided for 48 hours. Treated legs must not be waxed or shaved for two to three weeks.
